As tensions rise in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, President Donald Trump has reportedly given the green light for a military strike against Iran. This information comes from a report by the Wall Street Journal.
The article, published on Wednesday, mentioned that Trump is withholding a final order to allow Iranian officials a chance to engage in discussions regarding nuclear proliferation and possibly settle the current disputes.
“The next week is going to be significant, probably less than a week,” the president commented.
“I have several plans in mind, but I prefer to make a final decision right at the last possible second,” he added during a press conference.
This report suggests a potential U.S. military involvement to support Israel, despite clear warnings from Iran.
Israel has initiated military actions against Iran through a campaign named Operation Raisinglion. In response, Iran has retaliated with a missile strike aimed at Israel. Now, this conflict has been ongoing for six days.
“I might take action, or I might not,” Trump stated on Wednesday. “The coming week will be quite crucial, probably less than a week.”
Previously, a senior Iranian official mentioned that if the U.S. lifted its sanctions, Iran would be open to negotiating nuclear agreements.
In a statement, Iran insisted, “Negotiations should not occur under pressure, and peace should not come through coercion, especially from someone so fixated on staying relevant,” referring to Trump.
The president has been exchanging threats with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, through social media.
Khamenei remarked, “The U.S. will definitely suffer from this war. Any damage it incurs will surpass what Iran might face.” He also added, “It was already suspected that the U.S. had a role in the actions taken by the Zionist administration, but their recent statements have only intensified those suspicions.”
“Iran should have accepted the ‘deal’ I proposed. What a wasted opportunity and human life this is. I’ve said it numerous times: Iran does not possess nuclear weapons!” Trump stated, emphasizing his point.
He concluded with a statement urging, “Everyone in Tehran should leave soon!”
