Attorney General Merrick Garland said he would not release the Mar-a-Lago portion of the Smith report because of ongoing litigation against two of the president-elect's co-defendants.

But the release of the rest of the report was delayed after two co-defendants moved earlier this week, and the men asked U.S. District Judge Eileen Cannon for help. Canon blocked the release of the report for an additional three days following the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling. The defendants also sought assistance from the Eleventh Circuit, but the appeals court did not proceed with an emergency motion to block the report's release.
