Former President Trump took a swipe at talk show host Bill Maher for joking about his border visit last week, calling the comical liberal commentator “the worst” and “lowly rated.”

His comments came during Friday’s opening monologue on the HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher,” in which Maher spoke about “dueling” border visits between Presidents Trump and Biden and the former president’s call to remain on the ballot. It was announced after the Supreme Court appeal was dismissed. HBO is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, which is the parent company of CNN.
“Did you have a good leap day? It only comes around once every four years. When it happens, we have to enjoy it. Mr. Trump won’t appreciate it. He , I believe this is a woke conspiracy to prolong Black History Month,” Maher said, beginning his monologue.
“So, [Trump] “Yesterday I was at the border, I mean the border with Mexico – so was Biden, and they were having dueling press conferences there, very close,” he continued. “They could see the people there across the border…and the people could see them, too. The boy, the scarecrow, the jack-o-lantern. If that would stop them from coming, I don’t think anything will happen,” Maher added, drawing laughter from the audience.
Biden and Trump visited the southern border last Thursday and criticized each other’s policies.
Mr. Biden visited Brownsville, Texas, to meet with Border Patrol agents, while Mr. Trump visited Eagle Pass, Texas, with Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and local legal advocates. Eagle Pass has been the subject of much media coverage regarding the influx of migrants, with long lines of migrants, buses and razor wire often photographed.
“Biden was in the city of Brownsville, which sounds to me like what President Trump calls Mexico. ‘They’re bringing crime and they’re doing rape.’ I remember when he said that. Do you have it? ” Maher asked. “Remember when we first saw him, when he first came out, ‘They’re bringing the crime. They’re the rapists.’ After all, they were coming. The job was his.”

Mr. Trump, a vocal critic of President Trump, said last year that he was “afraid” of the former president “on a very personal level.”
“I’m afraid of Trump on a very personal level because I don’t think he likes me. I understand why,” the HBO “Real Time” host said in March 2023. told Jake Tapper As part of CNN’s prime time special. “And we don’t know what he’ll do in his second term.”
Maher also said of the former president, “There’s everything wrong with cramming people into one man.”
