Trump Responds to Warren’s Claims on Social Security
On Thursday, President Donald Trump stated that he would “take a drug test” in response to questions regarding his comments about Senator Elizabeth Warren supposedly attempting to cut social security. This took place during a White House event marking the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act. Trump asserted his intention to bolster the program “for future generations.”
“What they’re doing is very vicious. Elizabeth Warren claimed she is Indian. We refer to her as Pocahontas. She’s a liar. She’s lied throughout her career,” Trump remarked. He added, “Based on her claims of Native American heritage, she achieved a spot at a specific university, got a job, and then worked at that university. She’s deceitful and quite unpleasant.”
Trump also described Warren as a “nut job,” mentioning a recent instance where she enthusiastically supported democratic socialist mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani in New York City. “She really needs a drug test. I mean, how could someone act like that and still be normal?” he questioned.
Warren, a Democrat representing Massachusetts, earlier criticized the Trump administration in a statement to Fox News, saying, “Social Security is under attack once again.” She referenced comments from billionaire Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Elon Musk, who called Social Security “the world’s biggest Ponzi scheme,” implying that their actions could undermine the program’s integrity.
“We shouldn’t cut social security. It’s a vital service; people are struggling as prices rise and retirement savings diminish,” Warren noted. She advocated for protective measures, suggesting that lifting the income cap on Social Security contributions from the wealthiest individuals could strengthen the system.
In a further remark, Trump stated, “We’ve already removed nearly 275,000 illegal individuals from the Social Security system.” He insisted that reinforcing the system is crucial, arguing that the current administration hasn’t been effective in driving anyone away from it.
