Nicky Lucidonio, owner of cheesesteak restaurant Tony & Nick’s Steaks, Said Fox Business reported that it was an “incredible” moment, with the former president answering questions and signing “the hat” and “everything.”
“It was unbelievable,” Lucidonio told the outlet. “He was talking to people, people were asking questions and he was answering them. He was signing hats. He was signing autographs and everything.”
Lucidonio told the outlet that a woman visited his restaurant on Friday and said she had a “bulk order” for about 200 sandwiches.
“Wow, 200 cheesesteaks. I was like, ‘Wow, who are these for?’ And she said she wanted to help me. She said they were for some special people,” Lucidonio told the outlet.
At a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, earlier this month, Trump promised that if elected president, his administration would eliminate the tip tax for people in service industry jobs.
“So I’m the first to say this: Hotel workers and people who get tipped are going to be very happy,” Trump said at the time, “because if I’m president, I’m not going to tax tips or people who get tipped.”
Last weekend, at a roundtable discussion at an African-American church in Michigan, President Trump again said his administration “is not going to tax tips.”
Former president’s promise not to tax tips start One tendency person’s write“Voting for Trump is like voting not to tax tips.” expressed in words A phrase you see on receipts from restaurants and other places where tips are given.
Tips are described as “discretionary (optional or additional) payments that employees receive from customers, as determined by the customers.” according to Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
According to the IRS website, employees can earn tips through cash, “electronic payments or disbursements,” credit, debit, gift cards and other means, “tip pools, tip splits,” or other tip-sharing arrangements.
The IRS states that “all cash and noncash tips” received by employees “are income and are subject to federal income tax.”
“All cash tips received by an employee during a calendar month are subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes and must be reported to the employer,” the IRS adds. “If an employee receives less than $20 in total tips from a single employer during a calendar month, they do not have to report these tips or withhold tax.”
