However, there is still a possibility that President Trump may change his mind, as the decision will not be finalized until he makes an official announcement.

new york times We first reported that President Trump is expected to make an offer to Rubio.

President Trump is likely to select Mr. Rubio (R-Fla.) as his top diplomat, and the selection of someone for this role is in line with the president-elect's desire to have someone in his post with the same views on China as a whole. He will soon show his interest.

Meanwhile, multiple sources have reported that Rubio, who was being considered as a running mate, has expressed interest in joining Trump's Cabinet if the right position were to arise.

Mr. Rubio has foreign policy experience and serves on both the Senate Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committees.

One Trump supporter said Rubio is someone “the Trump base can trust.”

Another Trump supporter said, “Marco is a little more hawkish than the president-elect and vice president, but he's actually not as far removed from them as many people might imagine at first glance.” “He has become more aligned with the president on issues regarding tariffs. He has taken similar positions on the China issue and also voted against the last round of funding for Ukraine.”

Rubio has focused on the “China threat” theory for more than a decade, and in 2020, along with five other U.S. lawmakers, he was sanctioned by the Chinese government for “egregious conduct on Hong Kong-related issues.” U.S. officials have said that if Rubio is given the job, China will likely have to lift sanctions to deal with him.

“Getting Mr. Rubio is worse for China than getting Mr. Pompeo back,” said a former Trump administration official.

After a rocky relationship in 2016, the relationship between Mr. Rubio and Mr. Trump has not only been revised, but strengthened.
