Trump Maintains Strong Influence Over Republicans, CNN Analysis Reveals

A recent analysis from CNN discussed the ongoing support for President Donald Trump among Republican politicians, even in light of some dissent regarding the Venezuelan strikes.

Harry Enten, a CNN analyst, pointed out that the polling data indicates no significant divisions within the party, with most members still backing Trump. He made these remarks during a segment on Tuesday.

“Most Republicans concur with Donald Trump on this issue,” Enten emphasized, declaring that there is, indeed, no “rift” within the Republican Party.

Yet, he did recognize that a few voices, such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie, express skepticism. However, he quickly noted that they represent a very small minority.

Enten highlighted an Ipsos poll revealing that 65% of Republicans favor the removal of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, while only 6% oppose this action. In a separate poll by the Washington Post, 74% of Republican respondents supported military action, versus just 10% who were against it.

“The vast majority of Republicans align with Donald Trump on this subject,” he reiterated, adding that Greene and Massie are in a very limited group. Notably few Republicans seem to support their viewpoints.

He also mentioned a Reuters/Ipsos poll that indicated a slight uptick in Republican approval for Trump, which rose from 84% six months ago to 85% currently.

“In summary, Donald Trump has had remarkable control over the Republican base for quite some time,” he concluded.

Enten’s comments went viral on social media.

In addition, he remarked on social media that support for the offensive against Venezuela is increasing among Americans, likely due to the operation’s success.

“I think President Trump is quite pleased with the significant shift in approval ratings regarding Maduro’s exit,” Enten noted. “Compared to before the ousting, approval ratings have surged by 16 points. We’ve seen a similar pattern with the military action in Iran back in mid-2025. People tend to favor what they perceive as effective military operations.”
