Trump Makes Return to X with Ad Ahead of Musk Interview

Former President Donald Trump took out an ad on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, early Monday ahead of his evening interview with Elon Musk.

“Are we better off today than we were when I was president?,” Trump wrote in a posting that included a minute-long ad featuring President Ronald Reagan. “Our economy is collapsing. Our borders are gone. Our country is in decline.”

“Let’s make the American Dream affordable again. Let’s make America safe again. Let’s make America great again!” Trump added, adding the hashtag “#TrumpOnX.”

The video includes a clip of Reagan’s famous question to voters during a 1980 debate with then-President Jimmy Carter.

“To all of you who go to the polls, who stand at the polls and make your decision, as you make your decision, I ask you this question: Are you happier now than you were four years ago?” Reagan appealed to Americans in a debate clip that appears in the ad.

He continues:

“Is it easier to go to a store and shop than it was four years ago? Is unemployment in our country higher or lower than it was four years ago? Is America as respected around the world as it was before? Do you feel our country is as safe and strong as it was four years ago? If you don’t think that the policy of the last four years should be the policy for the next four years, I can offer you an alternative.”

The narrator then cuts in and says, “President Trump will Make America Great Again.”

Because the post is an advertisement, it will not appear on Trump’s official timeline, even though it was posted from his official account. The last official post on his timeline will remain his iconic mugshot from his arrest on August 24, 2023.

Musk, who is supporting Trump in the election, is scheduled to interview Trump on X tonight at 8pm ET.
