Trump Declares Peace in the Middle East
President Donald Trump marked a significant moment in history, declaring “peace in the Middle East” following the signing of a peace deal that concluded two years of conflict in Gaza. Speaking in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, he seemed optimistic and enthusiastic as he addressed a gathering of global leaders.
“We finally have peace in the Middle East. This is simply peace,” Trump stated, reflecting on the long journey to this point. “For years, we’d hear about it, but I don’t think many believed we’d actually get here. And yet, here we are.”
He continued by saying, “Today is a day that people here and across the globe have long awaited. With the historic agreement we just signed, the hopes and prayers of millions have been fulfilled. Together, we’ve done what many thought was impossible.”
The comments came shortly after Hamas released its final 20 living hostages on Monday, coinciding with Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip over the weekend.
Trump also mentioned that mediators would now start working on the following phases of his 20-point peace initiative. “This moment we’re celebrating isn’t just about stopping the fighting in Gaza; it’s a fresh start for the entire beautiful Middle East,” he added, full of optimism.
He expressed hope that more Arab and Muslim-majority nations would join the Abraham Accords, a series of normalization agreements with Israel, and criticized the Biden administration for not advancing the deal further. “We’ll welcome many more into the Abraham Accords. We had four influential countries join quickly, and then… well, the Biden administration has really dropped the ball on this one.”
During Trump’s presidency, countries like Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates became part of the Abraham Accords.
He mentioned that they no longer face the situation in Gaza or the excuse of Iran as they work toward achieving lasting peace. “Now, we’re building momentum toward something bright and lasting. Our commitment to the 20-point plan will be crucial in shaping that future.”
Trump then called on Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to share his thoughts. Sharif expressed that “today is one of the greatest days in modern history, as peace has been reached due to tireless efforts led by President Trump, a true man of peace.” He also noted that Pakistan had nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
