Trump Visits Law Enforcement Amid Crime Crackdown in D.C.

President Trump recently visited the U.S. Parks Police Operations Center in Anacostia as part of his focus on reducing crime in Washington, D.C. During his visit, he highlighted what he called a significant transformation in the capital.

Addressing hundreds of federal agents, including personnel from various agencies like the FBI and Homeland Security, Trump remarked, “It’s like a different place, another city,” referring to the changes happening in D.C.

“I believe it’s better now than it has been for years, and soon it will be even better,” he added.

Alongside him were key officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondy. Trump expressed plans to revitalize the city, saying, “It’s going to look like Augusta. We’re going to overhaul all your parks, and it’s going to happen quickly. It will rise like a miracle.”

Describing D.C. as “the biggest in terms of beauty,” he proposed joining police and military members for an event later that evening. His motorcade had left the White House around 5 PM, returning an hour later following the visit to the Operations Center.

“I think we’re heading out with the police and military tonight. Of course, we’ll be working,” he told a conservative radio host. He praised the National Guard for their efforts, saying they did a “great job.”

Trump’s campaign against crime commenced on August 11, when he announced a surge in federal law enforcement presence in the city. According to White House statistics, there have been about 630 arrests, with over 250 of those involving illegal immigrants, as immigration and customs enforcement joined the patrols.

He also indicated that federal agents would remain in D.C. for some time longer, planning to request funding from Congress for city improvements. “We’re going to go back for some support and redo a lot of pavement, central areas, and clear graffiti,” Trump said. “We’ll stay here for a bit,” he added.

During the visit, Trump brought burgers prepared at the White House, sharing them with law enforcement personnel while engaging in conversation. It reportedly took around 45 minutes.

As of the previous night, more than 2,000 federal agents had taken part in D.C.’s law enforcement efforts. Notably, as Trump’s motorcade passed through the city, many gathered to cheer, with some shouting “Free D.C.” while National Guard troops saluted.

Upon his arrival at the facility, federal agents seemed eager to meet the president, taking photos and expressing excitement. Bondy mentioned feeling a personal connection with many agents, noting their late-night dedication to their work.

In a recent poll by the Washington Post, it was revealed that 69% of D.C. residents were “strongly” opposed to federal control of the police department, while 10% were “somewhat” opposed. Meanwhile, only 9% expressed strong approval of the federal oversight under the Trump administration.
