Former President Donald Trump has ridiculed Kamala Harris' plans to visit the border for the second time as vice president, claiming she had three years to solve the illegal immigration crisis.
Harris is scheduled to fly to Douglas, Arizona, on Friday, where she will stop at the border to discuss increased security.
“Why didn't she fix it nearly four years ago? She doesn't have the plan, she doesn't have the talent, she doesn't have the ability to do it,” the former president said Thursday at a press conference at Trump Tower.
This will be Harris' first stop in Arizona as a Democratic presidential candidate.
She headed to the border in 2021 as vice president under pressure to see processing centers firsthand.
“She's going there tomorrow. After almost four years, she's going there tomorrow to show her what a great job she's done,” Trump claimed.
Harris is pushing for a bipartisan border bill that would close the border if illegal border crossings exceed 2,500 per week and still allow about 1.8 million immigrants a year.
“When Donald Trump learned about this bill and realized it would solve the problems he wanted to pursue, he killed it and told us not to bring it to a vote,” Harris said in an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday. spoke. . “He killed a bill that was actually supposed to be the solution because he wants to solve the problem, not fix it.”
When the Harris-Biden administration took office in 2021, it reversed some of President Trump's policies, including Remain in Mexico, and halted further construction of the border wall.
“There's no justification for saying she should save money on airfare. She should go back to the White House and tell the president to close the border,” Trump said.
“He can do that by simply handing Border Patrol a signature and a piece of paper. Instead, she's going there to convince people that she wasn't as bad as everyone knows.” It is.”
President Trump has vowed to “abolish all sanctuary cities,” end catch-and-release, “cut off all immigration through immigration phone apps,” and reinstate Remain in Mexico.
He also said he would send federal law enforcement to “liberate” Aurora, Colorado, which has been hit by a rise in immigration, crime and the Tren de Aragua gang.
