Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) warned that a Donald Trump victory in November could mean catastrophe for the country, arguing that “he must be stopped” just days before the shooting at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania that left Trump injured.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for blocking the former president and argued that a victory for Trump, who is leading in most opinion polls, would somehow undermine democracy.
“This is not a normal election where you want to win and if you don’t win, you work together and do what’s best for the country and hope that you’ll win next time,” Pelosi said. Said Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC. “This is an erosion of our democracy. We must stop him. He cannot be president!”

Pelosi’s comments came days after President Joe Biden’s disastrous June 27 debate, after which Democrats called for Biden to resign and many argued he had no path to victory.
The honorary chairman and Democratic icon questioned the process by which Democrats select their nominee, mused about the possibility of Biden being replaced and appeared to suggest the party’s democratically selected nominee could be removed.
“People are very concerned. That’s why we’re divided. Some are saying, how do we stretch this process to the limit? Others are saying, Joe is our man, we love him, we trust him, he has vision, knowledge, judgment and integrity. Integrity! The other nominee has none of that,” Pelosi concluded.
The Trump campaign confirmed that the president is safe and said more details would be released soon.
