President Donald Trump has appointed William Pulte to take over as Acting Director of National Intelligence following Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation from the position.
Pulte is currently handling responsibilities as the administrator of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) while also chairing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Trump has indicated that he plans to maintain Pulte’s role at FHFA.
“I am appointing William J. Pruitt, Commissioner of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and Chairman of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, to be Acting Director of National Intelligence,” Trump shared on Truth Social.
He added, “William has extensive experience managing America’s most sensitive issues, market safety and integrity, and over $10 trillion in transactions at Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, a significant increase from just 12 months ago.”
Trump concluded with, “During this period, he will continue to serve as Commissioner of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and Chairman of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. Congratulations, Secretary Pruitt!”
Gabbard’s resignation was announced in late May and will take effect at the end of June. She cited her husband’s struggle with a rare form of bone cancer as the reason for stepping down.
