She becomes the youngest title holder in history.

“Caroline Leavitt did an incredible job as national press secretary during my historic campaign, and I am pleased to announce that she will serve as White House press secretary,” President Trump said in a statement. I think so.''

“Caroline is smart, tough and has proven to be a very capable communicator,” he added. “I have great confidence that she will excel on the podium and deliver the message to the American people that we are making America great again.”

During the 2022 midterm elections, Mr. Levitt ran for New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District.

She won a contested Republican primary, but lost the general election to Congressman Chris Pappas (D-New Hampshire).

Mr. Levitt also worked as press secretary for Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), whom President Trump nominated to be ambassador to the United Nations.

Levitt will be the fifth White House press secretary under the Trump administration.

Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham and Kayleigh McEnany all held high-profile White House positions during the president-elect's first term.

At 29 years old, the late Ron Ziegler, who served as White House press secretary under former President Richard Nixon, was the youngest person ever to hold the position.

Earlier in the day, President Trump announced that longtime communications leader Stephen Chan would return to the White House as communications director.

He also announced that Sergio Go, CEO of Don Junior's Winning Team Publishing Company, will serve as Director of the Office of Presidential Personnel.

President Trump said in a statement: “Steven Chan and Sergio Go have been trusted advisors since my first presidential election in 2016, and they have been my trusted advisors throughout my first term, leading up to my historic victory in 2024. “We have continued to uphold the principle of America First.”
