Voters who support former President Trump do not consider him to be very religious, but they believe he represents people in religious communities.
Pew Research released a poll this week analyzing the religious dimensions of President Trump’s base and how voters perceive the former president’s spiritual beliefs.
According to the Pew poll, only 8% of Trump voters say they believe Trump is “very religious.”

About 51% of voters who support the former president said they thought he was “somewhat religious,” while 38% said he was “not very religious” or “not at all religious.”
Despite their lukewarm ratings of his religiosity, 51% of Trump supporters said the former president stands up “a lot” or “a lot” against religious beliefs similar to theirs.
Only 11% of Trump supporters say he rarely or never stands up for religious beliefs similar to theirs. About 21% said they did so to some extent.

In a speech in Tennessee last month, President Trump called it “insane” how Christians and individuals who consider themselves religious could vote for the Democratic Party.
