Projections for the 2024 election show that President-elect Donald Trump will receive the most popular votes of any Republican presidential candidate.

As of Sunday morning, Donald Trump reported receiving 74.56 million popular votes, surpassing the previous record for the 2020 election of 74.22 million votes. Reuters.
That total now exceeds Vice President Kamala Harris' 70.8 million votes.
But a significant number of votes remain uncounted, especially in California, where only about 75% of the votes have been counted.
Several other states still have uncounted votes, including Alaska, Arizona, Maryland, Oregon and Utah. Approximately 5 million votes are believed to have not been counted.
Republicans have not won the popular vote in a presidential election since 2004, when President George W. Bush won 62 million votes. By comparison, Ronald Reagan won in a landslide in 1984, receiving 54 million votes. At the time, the U.S. population was about 100 million fewer than it is today.
President Joe Biden holds the record for most votes in U.S. history, reportedly receiving 81.3 million votes in the 2020 election.
Trump won all seven battleground states and won the electoral college by a 312-226 margin, the largest margin since 2012, when then-President Barack Obama won 332-206.
In 2016, Trump won 304 to 227, but in 2020, Biden won the electoral college by 306 to 232.
Republicans have regained the majority in the Senate and are close to retaining control of the House.
The president-elect will be the second president in U.S. history to win a second non-consecutive term, following Grover Cleveland.
