Meteorologists warn “Life-threatening” condition The weekend will be held in Iowa as the state prepares for its caucuses. President Trump canceled three of four in-person events in Iowa on Sunday due to freezing cold and snow.

Windchill temperatures are expected to drop to minus 40 degrees in parts of the state on Monday. The Hawkeye State is also recovering from a snowstorm that hit the region Friday and Saturday, leaving roads icy.

“Don't sit at home. If you get sick like a dog, you'll say, 'Darling, we've got to do something,'” President Trump said at Sunday's Indianola rally. “Even if you die voting, remember, it’s worth it.”

The weather is expected to significantly reduce turnout in the caucuses, but political analysts are unsure exactly how it will affect the outcome. President Trump's rivals are hoping the weather will reduce the former president's turnout and attract more loyal supporters.

Trump holds a significant lead over his main opponent. The final Des Moines Register poll released Saturday showed Mr. Trump with a 48% approval rating, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley with 20% and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis with 16%.

The bitter cold is also affecting the rest of the Midwest and other regions, with more than 110 million people from the Rockies to New England under wind chill advisories Sunday.
