Former President Trump promised to eliminate taxes on overtime pay as part of a series of proposed tax cuts, saying it would give workers more disposable income.
“This will encourage people to work and it will be a great benefit to businesses,” Trump told a crowd at a campaign rally in Tucson, Arizona, on Thursday.
“These people who work overtime are some of the hardest working citizens in our country, and for too long, no one in Washington cared about them.”

“These are people who are really working: police officers, nurses, factory workers, construction workers, truck drivers, machine operators.”
The proposal comes as Trump seeks to flip Arizona, a state that President Biden won by just a few thousand votes in 2020, back to Republican status.

“So we're asking workers who are working more than 40 hours of overtime a week to think about that,” he added. “The overtime will be tax-free.”
Trump also promised to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits and tips on service workers, a pledge made by Vice President Kamala Harris, and to raise the minimum wage.
