Trump Promises to Keep Iran Blockade in Place Until Nuclear Conditions Are Fulfilled

Leak Notified Iran About Missing Airman, Media Outlet Should 'Stop or Face Consequences'

Trump Stresses Continued Naval Blockade Against Iran

President Trump stated on Wednesday that the United States will uphold its naval blockade against Iran until the country admits defeat, or, as he put it, cries “Uncle,” agreeing to terms that ensure it will never develop nuclear weapons.

During a phone conversation with Axios earlier, Trump remarked that the Iranian proposal, which suggested reopening the Strait of Hormuz and easing the blockade before tackling nuclear concerns, was unacceptable. He emphasized that the blockade would remain until Iran consents to U.S. demands.

Trump mentioned that the blockade has proven more effective than military action in persuading Tehran to make concessions. He described the pressure as intensifying, saying, “Blockade is somewhat more effective than bombing.” He added, “They are suffocating like stuffed pigs, and the situation is only going to get worse.” It seems he views the current strategy as having a significant impact.

He noted that Iran has yet to fulfill the U.S.’s conditions for lifting the restrictions. “They want reconciliation,” he stated, but firmly indicated there’d be no easing of the blockade at this time.

Trump also warned that Iran’s oil production capabilities are increasingly jeopardized as exports remain blocked. He claimed that the regime’s infrastructure is teetering on the edge due to persistent pressure.

Earlier that morning, on Truth Social, Trump took a stricter tone, criticizing Iran for being unable to manage its affairs and hinting at a shift away from a conciliatory approach in light of stalled negotiations.

When addressing reporters at the White House later, he acknowledged that discussions were ongoing, primarily via phone. However, he felt that Tehran’s proposals hadn’t advanced far enough. “They’ve come a long way,” he commented, stressing that a deal wouldn’t materialize unless it’s agreed that nuclear weapons are off the table.

He praised the naval blockade’s efficiency, labeling it as “genius” and “100% foolproof,” attributing this success to the U.S. Navy’s efforts. “Nobody’s going to play the game with us,” he asserted, highlighting the Navy’s effectiveness.

Trump pointed out that Iran’s military capabilities have notably diminished, claiming that the country’s economy is suffering due to restricted oil exports, which is ramping up financial pressures on the regime.

In a vivid metaphor, he said, “Now they have to cry, old man…just say, ‘We give up,'” explaining what he hopes to achieve through this pressure campaign.

According to Axios, while he hasn’t approved military action specifically or detailed any operations, U.S. Central Command is reportedly preparing to strike Iranian infrastructure with “short, powerful” waves of attacks if the diplomatic stalemate persists.

The blockade is being reinforced by further economic measures aimed at Iran’s revenue channels, with the U.S. Treasury recently imposing sanctions on 35 entities allegedly linked to Iran’s “shadow banking” network, which supposedly aids in smuggling billions in oil revenue and bolstering military operations.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent noted that these networks facilitate access for Iran’s military forces, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, to the international financial system, allowing them to transfer funds to various terrorist proxies. He cautioned financial institutions against engaging with those sanctioned.

Officials indicate that the blockade, paired with these financial measures, is leading to mounting obstacles for Iran’s oil exports, with significant storage facilities nearing full capacity and revenue flows becoming increasingly limited.

However, Iran has dismissed the U.S. terms, warning of escalation if the blockade persists. An Iranian security official stated that Press TV would soon take “real and unprecedented action,” asserting that while their military initially showed restraint to promote diplomacy, “patience has limits.”

Iranian representatives maintain that any discussions about lifting the blockade should occur alongside substantive nuclear negotiations, a stance that President Trump has consistently rejected.

Despite the ongoing conflict, Trump said that negotiations are still happening but reiterated that for any deal to take place, Iran must renounce its nuclear ambitions. “At this point, unless we agree that nuclear weapons do not exist, there will never be an agreement,” he concluded.
