Trump and the White Nationalist Agenda
On Wednesday, during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Deadline,” Princeton University professor Eddie Glaude Jr. discussed President Donald Trump’s connection with what he labeled a “white nationalist agenda” among his supporters, which he described as engaging in “hate traffic.”
Glaude pointed out that foreign leaders visiting the Oval Office must deal with a president who promotes conspiracy theories, making it difficult for them to push back on such narratives. He emphasized the need to recognize this as a form of “white complaint politics.”
He elaborated, stating, “Trump is stirring the pot and appealing to a base that thrives on grievances and animosity.” Glaude referenced a recent interaction Trump had with the South African president, where he described the country in terms of apartheid. He noted that Trump understands the value of constructive engagement, yet he questioned whether the president would reinterpret past events for his own agenda.
