Trump questioned about instructing DOJ to go after Comey, Bolton, James

Trump Defends Justice Department’s Actions in CBS Interview

President Donald Trump has made it clear that he has not instructed the Justice Department to go after former FBI Director James Comey, former national security adviser John Bolton, or New York Attorney General Letitia James.

During an interview with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell on “60 Minutes,” she brought up the recent indictments and questioned whether these were acts of “political retaliation.” Trump responded sharply, saying, “You know who was indicted? That’s the guy you’re looking at. I was indicted. And I’m innocent.”

He went on to discuss the implications of recent political developments, hinting it would be “difficult” to provide financial support to New York City if a certain candidate were to win. O’Donnell pressed him further, asking directly if he had directed any targeting of individuals within the Justice Department.

Trump’s response was vehement: “No. We don’t need to coach them, because they were so dirty, so crooked, so corrupt…” He mentioned figures like Pam Bondi and Kash Patel, saying they are doing a good job on these matters.

In a Truth Social post referenced during the interview, Trump criticized Comey, James, and Senate Democrat Adam Schiff, asserting that despite their alleged severe crimes, no action has been taken against them. He seemed frustrated, stating, “Nothing is being done.”

Trump has also expressed that the ongoing legal challenges are damaging his reputation, emphasizing, “They impeached me twice and indicted me without any basis (5 times!). Justice must be served now!!!”
