On Thursday, President Donald Trump praised the U.S. economy and questioned when he would receive recognition for supposedly creating “perhaps the greatest economy” in American history.
He stated, “I inherited a mess from the Biden administration, marked by the worst inflation ever and the steepest prices this country has seen. Just 13 months ago, affordability was a disaster for Americans; now, things have changed! Prices are decreasing rapidly, and energy costs, including oil and gasoline, are at five-year lows. The stock market recently reached an all-time high. Tariffs are costing us huge sums, but we’ll regain respect as a nation,” Trump remarked on Truth Social.
He was inaugurated for his second term on January 20, 2025, less than a year ago.
In his comments, Trump contrasted real wages during his administration with those under Biden’s, labeling the Democrats’ inflation narrative as a “hoax.”
“When will I be credited for creating perhaps the largest economy in our country’s history without inflation? When will people see the truth? When will polls show how great America is today compared to just a year ago?” he expressed in his post.
In another recent post, he echoed these sentiments, declaring, “The stock market just hit an all-time high!!! When will a fake poll show me doing a great job on the economy and more? Thank you!”
In a related interview, Politico’s Dasha Burns rated the economy an “A++++.”
However, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized Trump in an interview with CBS News, stating, “The president needs to understand that he’s a billionaire and the president. He can’t mislead people into thinking their bills are manageable, nor can he say the economy is A+++. That’s just not right, and I think it disrespects people’s intelligence.”
