Pittsburgh – James “Jim” Copenhaver, one of two victims seriously injured in Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, suffered “life-changing wounds,” his family said in a statement.
Copenhaver, 74, of Moon Township, Pennsylvania, was wounded in a shooting at President Trump’s rally in Butler and remained hospitalized but in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon.
“The Copenhaver family would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support shown to James ‘Jim’ as he recovers from injuries tragically sustained during President Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024,” the family said in a statement. “Jim would especially like to express his gratitude to the emergency responders, doctors and hospital staff who provided his initial and ongoing care. Additionally, Jim would like to send his thoughts and prayers to the other victims, their families and President Trump. We pray for a safe and speedy recovery for everyone.”
The family added that Copenhaver’s injuries were “life-changing.”

A spokesman for the Copenhaver family, attorney Joseph Feldman of the Law Offices of Max C. Feldman, told Fox News Digital that Copenhaver remains in critical but stable condition and was available to speak on Tuesday.
“He’s a tough guy,” Feldman said.
“The Copenhaver family would like to thank you all for your continued compassion, prayers and support as Jim and his family heal from this horrific, senseless and unnecessary act of violence,” they wrote.

Pennsylvania State Police identified the other victim injured at the rally as David Duch, 57, of New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Duch was also in stable condition as of Tuesday. His friends told Fox News Digital that he was wounded by two gunshots at the rally.

State police also identified the victim who was shot and killed Saturday while trying to protect his wife and daughters from gunfire as Corey Comperatore, 50, a volunteer firefighter from Buffalo Township.

Federal authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooter, Thomas Crooks, attempting to assassinate President Trump.
Federal authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to submit a tip to FBI.gov/butler or call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
