Butler, Pennsylvania – The families of two bystanders injured in the assassination attempt on former President Trump have broken their silence after their loved ones were hospitalized following the shooting.
The family of James “Jim” Copenhaver thanked the public for the “tremendous support” they have received while he recovers from “life-changing injuries” at Allegheny General Hospital.
“Jim would like to especially thank the emergency medical personnel, doctors and hospital staff who provided his initial and ongoing care,” his family said in a statement released by Allegheny Health Network. “In addition, Jim would like to offer his thoughts and prayers to the other victims and their families, as well as President Trump.”
“He prays for everyone’s safety and speedy recovery,” they said.
Allegheny Health Network said Copenhaver was “discharged from Allegheny General Hospital late Friday.”

Copenhaver, 74, and David Jake Duch, 57, were both seriously injured when suspect Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13.
Duch’s family also released a statement about his recovery, announcing that he was in “serious but stable condition” on Wednesday.

A family member thanked the surgical team at Western Pennsylvania Hospital for “saving” the 57-year-old man’s life after a horrific shooting at the Butler County Fairgrounds.

“David and our family are especially grateful to all the emergency medical personnel and medical professionals who helped save his life, including the AGH ambulance and trauma surgery teams,” Allegheny Health Network said in a statement released on Wednesday. “As we focus on David’s recovery, our hearts go out to the other victims and their families in this tragic incident.”
Dutch was released from the hospital on Wednesday, July 24th.

Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed in the shooting and former President Trump was injured by a bullet grazed his ear.
At his funeral, Comperatore was remembered as a loving father and devoted firefighter who died shielding his family from a hail of gunfire during a rally.

President Trump paid tribute to fallen firefighter Comperatore’s firefighter jacket and helmet were displayed onstage at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee.
“He lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect people from flying bullets… He was a truly remarkable man,” Trump said in his speech. RNC speech. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for another.”
