FBI Deployment During Capitol Riots Revealed
Recent reports indicate that 274 plainclothes FBI agents were dispatched to the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 riots. This information comes from a post-action report that has been made public.
Interestingly, some FBI personnel have voiced their concerns about political bias within the agency. One anonymous complaint highlighted the need for the FBI to clarify its commitment to its mission despite what some see as a political agenda.
According to the report, the FBI sent over 250 agents to the Capitol amidst the chaos. This situation has reportedly led to a sense of discontent among some within the bureau, who feel that political leanings and “wokeness” are affecting the agency’s core mission.
There have been accounts from agents—particularly from the Washington Field Office—about being placed in dangerous situations without adequate safety equipment. They noted how they could be easily identified as armed officers by other police forces.
The recurring theme among complaints is a belief that both the James Comey and Chris Wray administrations have fostered a culture of bias that diverges from the agency’s original commitments to impartiality. One employee expressed this sentiment quite bluntly: “We need to actively investigate criminal behavior without regard to the race or political beliefs of the individuals involved.”
The implications of the report are significant, as it reveals that many agents were deployed armed to the Capitol after the rioting began, yet they appeared unprotected compared to their law enforcement counterparts.
In response to these findings, Donald Trump characterized the situation as a fraudulent act by the “extreme Left Democrats.” He shared his thoughts on social media, emphasizing his concerns about potential informants among the rioters.
Trump remarked on the presence of “many paid informants in the crowd” and expressed a desire to understand their roles, specifically regarding whether they contributed to the unrest or provided information.
Representative Barry Loudermilk from Georgia mentioned that the House subcommittee would focus on identifying how many paid informants were present on January 6. He pointed out that the Biden administration’s Justice Department acknowledged the presence of these informants, raising questions about the FBI’s foresight regarding the events of that day.
Loudermilk’s inquiry includes wanting to know how many informants were in the crowd and whether they were there to incite or inform. He suggested that if the FBI had multiple informants present, they should have anticipated the chaos.
