Trump Remains a Central Figure in Conservative Poll

A recent poll showcases President Donald Trump’s ongoing influence within the conservative movement.

Conducted at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) from March 25 to 28, over 1,600 participants revealed a striking 96% approval rating for Trump’s presidency. Moreover, an impressive 94% asserted that Trump is “the best president of my lifetime.”

Support for his policy initiatives was also notable. The survey indicated that 91% favored tariffs intended to reduce the trade deficit and support American workers and businesses.

Many Republicans praised Trump for his economic record, with 89% backing military actions against Ayatollah Khamenei to impede Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Additionally, 92% expressed support for the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Republican Leaders Also Well-Received

Other prominent Republicans garnered strong approval ratings as well. Vice President J.D. Vance held a 92% approval rating, while House Speaker Mike Johnson received 84%. Senate Majority Leader John Thune had a lower, yet respectable 57% support.

The poll also hinted at the Republican Party’s future. In a hypothetical 2028 primary scenario, Vance would secure 53% support, with Marco Rubio trailing at 35%. The rest of the candidates remained in single digits.

Interestingly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio emerged as the favorite Trump administration member, chosen by 42% of respondents. He was followed by other high-profile members like Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

As for the Democratic side, participants identified California Governor Gavin Newsom and New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani as noteworthy representatives of the political left.

CPAC, founded in 1964, is the oldest conservative grassroots gathering in the U.S., advocating for the principles of “life, liberty, property.” The poll featured a demographic that was predominantly from the South, with an average participant age of around 49 years old.
