Trump releases a statement after the shooting of D.C. National Guardsmen

On November 26, 2025, a shooting incident near the White House left at least two National Guardsmen injured. President Donald Trump, who was at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida for Thanksgiving, was quickly informed about the situation and shared his thoughts through a statement on Truth Social.

“The individual who shot the two National Guardsmen was also seriously injured and is receiving treatment in two different hospitals. Regardless of the outcome, there will be significant consequences. We must support our National Guard, military, and law enforcement, who serve admirably,” President Trump stated.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt later communicated to the public that the situation was being closely monitored. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem urged Americans to keep the victims in their prayers.

“Please join us in praying for the two National Guard members who faced this tragic incident in Washington, D.C.” Noem mentioned.

The administration reassured that cooperation with local authorities is ongoing. While one suspect is in custody, details about the victims’ conditions remain confidential.

Many eyes were on the vicinity as federal response teams mobilized. Helicopters flew overhead as reports streamed in about the soldiers’ transport to medical facilities, with their current statuses still unclear.
