Trump removes post asking Bondi to take action against Comey, Schiff, James

Trump Pressures Attorney General Bondy Over Prosecutions

On Saturday, former President Donald Trump targeted Attorney General Pam Bondy, urging her to take action against his perceived enemies in a now-deleted social media post.

In that post, he called for charges against former FBI directors James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff, and New York Attorney General Letitia James, expressing frustration over what he described as a lack of prosecution. He wrote, “I reviewed more than 30 statements and posts. Essentially, the same old story as last time—lots of talk, no action. They’re all getting away with it.”

Following this, Trump shifted focus to the recent resignation of Eric Sebert, a lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia, alleging he stepped down due to pressure from within the White House. Trump emphasized his dissatisfaction with Sebert’s performance, stating, “We had a really bad Republican past of a Democrat US lawyer in Virginia,” suggesting that Sebert wasn’t effectively handling cases.

Sebert has been an attorney in that region since 2010 and is yet to receive Senate confirmation.

Trump continued to pressure Bondy, insisting she needed to expedite her actions, which he claimed were harming the reputation and credibility of his side. In his words, “They indicted me five times, yet nothing happens. We need to serve justice now!”

Interestingly, just an hour after his earlier post, Trump posted again, this time praising Bondy’s cautious approach over her eight months in office. “Pam Bondy does a great job as the US Attorney General,” he wrote, but still, he advocated for a more aggressive prosecutor in Virginia, mentioning he would like to see Lindsay Harrigan in that role.

When asked by a reporter about his feelings toward Bondy after this back-and-forth, Trump clarified, “No, I want people to act. They have to act. But we need to move quickly. If they are guilty or need to be judged, they should be charged.”

He expressed his intention to nominate Harrigan to become the Virginia prosecutor, praising her as fair and intelligent, emphasizing a strong need for justice in the situation.

The Department of Justice has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding Trump’s statements.
