Military Strike Against Narco-Terrorism in Venezuela
President Donald Trump announced the latest U.S. military action aimed at combating narco-terrorism in the USSOUTHCOM region. Early Tuesday, an airstrike took out a vessel linked to a recognized terrorist group in international waters off the coast of Venezuela, resulting in the deaths of six suspected traffickers. This incident further indicates that the regime’s efforts in maritime counter-narcotics are intensifying.
According to the War Department, operating under directives from the Commander-in-Chief, the boat was destroyed in international waters. Trump mentioned on TruthSocial.com that the strike resulted in the elimination of “six male narco-terrorists on board.”
The President noted that the Secretary of the Army initiated this attack under his leadership as Commander-in-Chief, targeting a designated terrorist organization involved in drug trafficking in the USSOUTHCOM jurisdiction. He emphasized that intelligence had confirmed the vessel’s role in an illegal narco-terrorism network and its travel along known trafficking routes.
Trump underlined that the operation took place in international waters and confirmed that there were no U.S. military personnel harmed during the action.
Earlier this month, similar reports emerged about a prior violent strike against a narco-terror vessel ordered by Trump.
Army Secretary Pete Hegseth had previously announced a strike on a Venezuelan ship loaded with drugs, stating, “Our intelligence community has confirmed that this ship was involved in drug trafficking by narco-terrorists on known routes. We will continue these operations until the attacks on Americans cease.”
In September, it was detailed that the U.S. military had conducted three earlier attacks against narco-terrorists transporting drugs from Venezuela to the United States. At that time, Trump had cautioned Venezuelan drug smugglers, saying, “We’re looking for you.”
The U.S. State Department designated the Torren de Aragua as a foreign terrorist organization earlier this year. In July, it also claimed that Nicolás Maduro is not the legitimate president of Venezuela but is, instead, leading a drug-terrorism cartel that controls the country.
On August 8, Trump signed an order permitting military action against “certain Latin American drug cartels.” This followed the government’s designation of the Cartel de los Soles in Venezuela as a terrorist organization, reportedly led by Maduro with the support of various military and government officials.
True to his promise, Trump’s administration continues its military efforts against drug cartels.
