Trump reveals new gold decor in the White House through social media video

Trump’s Gold Trimming in the Oval Office

President Trump has been busy adding a touch of gold to the Oval Office, which he proudly showcased on social media.

In a post on Truth Social, he mentioned, “Some of the highest quality 24 carat gold used in the White House oval offices and cabinet rooms.” He seems quite pleased with the results, claiming that both foreign leaders and others are “crazy” for the quality and aesthetics. He declared it the best Oval Office ever, combining success with appearance.

He also shared a short video suggesting an elaborate gold wall molding, hinting at a series of decorations that might soon adorn the White House. Recently, he boasted about the golden transformation happening there. Interestingly, there’s speculation that—just for the internet sleuths out there—his decorators might have sourced inexpensive wall fixtures from a home improvement store and simply spray-painted them gold.

Trump previously mentioned on Fox News, “People tried to come up with gold paint that looked like gold, but they couldn’t do that,” suggesting that matching actual gold and gold paint was a challenge. Some on the internet seemed to have had a field day, pointing out what they perceived as DIY elements in the new decor that resembled gold leaf.

Products at home improvement stores typically range from $30 to $50, which is a far cry from the costs associated with true 24 carat gold.

The details about what exactly has been used in the renovations remain a bit murky, as the items he mentioned didn’t show up on Home Depot or the manufacturers’ websites as of a recent check. It raises the question of whether he posted the video to refute any claims, given his assertion that the decorations were of the “highest quality.” It’s also well-known that Trump has a fondness for gold. His properties are famously gold-plated, and he has a history of receiving lavish golden gifts from foreign dignitaries. Rumors even circulate about a golden toilet in one of his bathrooms.

This love for luxury seems to have expanded once he returned to Washington, D.C., particularly in 2025. He has a distinct taste when it comes to decorating, which led him to enlist the “Golden Man” who decorated Mar-a-Lago to help with his White House flair.

As spokesperson Caroline Leavitt put it, “It’s the golden office of the golden age.”
