Trump reveals nuclear submarines stationed close to Russia

Trump announces nuclear submarines positioned near Russia

US Deploys Nuclear Submarines Near Russia Amid Tensions

On Friday, President Trump announced that the United States has positioned two nuclear submarines in “appropriate areas” close to Russia, reacting to concerning comments from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now a key advisor in the Kremlin.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump labeled Medvedev’s remarks as “a very provocative statement,” explaining that the deployment of submarines was a precautionary measure due to the severity of such comments.

This week, Trump had already criticized Medvedev via Truth Social, dismissing Russia and India as a “dead economy” and advised Medvedev to reflect on his words.

Medvedev, in turn, referenced a historic Soviet strategy called “Dead Hand” in response via a telegram post.

In his Friday update on Truth Social, Trump expressed his hope that the situation wouldn’t escalate, suggesting that the relocation of nuclear assets was a step towards de-escalation. He emphasized the significance of words, noting that they can lead to unforeseen repercussions.

Recently, Trump has threatened to impose “severe” tariffs on Russia as a means to pressure the Kremlin into ceasing its actions in Ukraine. He also adjusted the timeline for Russia to achieve a ceasefire, now aiming for early August, aided by US economic sanctions.

Medvedev, vice-president of the Russian Security Council, criticized Trump’s approach, framing it as a high-stakes ultimatum. He cautioned Trump to remember that Russia is not comparable to Israel or Iran, and emphasized that each new ultimatum could further escalate tensions, not just between Russia and Ukraine but in broader geopolitical terms.

The former president has ramped up his rhetoric, telling Medvedev to reconsider his statements, which have also faced backlash from India. Trump added, “I don’t care what India is doing in Russia. They can deal with their dead economy as they see fit.” He further mentioned tariffs imposed by India, labeling them as the highest globally.

Trump concluded with a pointed message about the minimal relationship between the US and Russia, admonishing Medvedev as a “failed former president” who seems disconnected from reality and operating in a precarious situation.
