Trump Reveals Peace Talks for Ukraine Conflict Following Call with Putin

Trump’s Update on Ceasefire Negotiations with Russia

President Trump shared details about a two-hour phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, stating that discussions for a ceasefire will commence soon.

After the call, Trump communicated via his social media platform that negotiations between the two nations would start “to end the war.” He mentioned that Russia could engage in trade with the United States after hostilities cease. He stated, “Russia wants to have massive trade with the US when this devastating ‘Bloodbath’ ends. I agree. Russia has great opportunities to create large amounts of employment and wealth. Similarly, the possibilities are unlimited.”

He added, “Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will begin immediately. I have informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, President Emmanuel Macron of France, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany, and President Alexander Stubb of Finland during a call with me, right after my conversation with Putin.” Trump also mentioned that the Vatican has expressed interest in facilitating the negotiations.

Following their discussion, Putin indicated that Russia is willing to work towards ending the conflict, emphasizing the need for both countries to reach a compromise, as reported by the Associated Press.

Vice President JD Vance met with Zelenskyy over the weekend after the Pope’s recent Mass. “Our country shares the goal of ending unnecessary bloodshed in Ukraine,” he remarked, updating on ceasefire efforts and ongoing peace negotiations.

On Wednesday, it was noted that Putin had declined to participate in peace talks with Zelenskyy in Türkiye. Trump, who was in Qatar at the time, suggested he would attend a lecture if Putin were there.
