Trump Says Attempted Assassination in Butler Was a 'Democrat Scheme'

Trump Claims Assassination Attempt Was a “Democrat Plot”

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump stated that the recent assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania, was part of a “Democrat Plot” and mentioned that “new information was just found.”

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump criticized the FBI, accusing them of negligence regarding the individual who shot at him.

During a rally in Butler on July 13, 2024, a man named Thomas Matthew Crooks shot at Trump from the roof of a nearby building, resulting in a bullet grazing the upper portion of Trump’s right ear.

“Everybody knows the Crooked Joe Biden FBI didn’t do what they should have with respect to the Lunatic who shot me in Butler, PA,” Trump expressed. “By the time I got into Office on January 20th, most of the information was missing, altered, corrupted, or gone. New info was just found!”

Trump questioned why this information had not been uncovered sooner, raising doubts about the investigation.

“This was all a Democrat Plot, to get me out of the Election, that failed,” he added. “Dirty Cop Christopher Wray should pay a price for the way he handled this assassination attempt, and certainly for the things he said.”

This statement coincides with a recent report from Fox News that revealed Crooks used the alias “Bob Dole” to receive packages, and it was reported that an “anonymous donor” paid for his cremation.

Crooks, who was 20 years old, would typically collect packages sent to the Dole alias while waiting for his father to return from work. He was shot and killed after his attack at the Trump rally in July 2024. According to family attorneys, he was cremated shortly after the incident with the expenses covered by an anonymous donor.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) also highlighted concerns about the lack of information regarding Crooks years after the assassination attempt, noting, “More than two years after the assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, the American people still know very little about Thomas Crooks, the almost-successful assassin.”

Tragically, during the rally, a firefighter named Corey Comperatore was shot and killed as he tried to protect his family. Two others, James Copenhaver and David Dutch, were injured in the attack.
