Trump Recognizes Delta’s Policy Changes
President Donald Trump recently shared a post on Truth Social to celebrate the modifications Delta Air Lines has made, particularly in its flight manual. This recognition comes in light of an executive order he signed earlier this year.
On Thursday, he highlighted a particular image from Delta, noting how the changes reflected a revision of the airline’s protocols. This update includes a switch in terminology, shifting from “Gulf of Mexico” to “Gulf of America.”
From the Delta captain: “I thought everyone would enjoy this official Delta memo. It marks a big change from the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America,” Trump commented.
The memo also indicated a transition from the term “notifications to air missions” to “notifications to airmen.” This shift was interpreted as a move away from what some might consider overly progressive language.
Trump remarked, “The liberals thought that calling it notifications to airman was problematic. They changed it, but Delta went back to airman. I think they’re finally embracing the MAGA spirit.”
Notably, the Federal Aviation Administration had previously replaced “notification to airlines” with more gender-neutral terms in 2021, as part of a campaign to eliminate gender stereotypes. The term “cockpit” was suggested to be replaced with “flight decks” to further promote inclusive language.
A Delta spokesperson responded to the updates, stating to the New York Post, “These changes were mandated by the FAA,” though they didn’t delve into specifics.
The executive order introducing this name change was issued on the day Trump returned to office, and it received Congressional approval in May.
Trump said, “I did this. This formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico has always been a vital resource and a significant part of America for its growth.”
Recently, Trump tweeted about Delta modifying its reference from “Air Mission Notification” to “Air Force Notification,” and the change from “Gulf of Mexico” to “American Gulf.” He added, “I think they’re finally accepting MAGA.”
