Trump says GOP should campaign on Democratic response to his speech

President Trump urged Republicans on Wednesday on a campaign about how Democrats acted during their joint speech to Congress on the night several lawmakers came out in protest and refused to applause.

“Democrats should lose the medium term based on their actions in their joint speech to Congress last night,” Trump posted to The Truth Society. “All Republicans must use their actions against men, such as women's sports, extremely dangerous open border policies, high energy and taxes.”

Trump called on Republicans to use footage of how some Democrats at the Chamber of Commerce did not praise when he spoke about a young woman who was killed by immigrants who illegally entered the country and who highlighted other White House guests.

“This could be a complete campaign to win in analyzing the complete tape of this historic event!” Trump posted. “In other words, Republicans can take what happened last night and beat any race in the country.”

Trump's speech is unlikely to have a major impact on the midterm, which is still about 20 months away, but his posts reflect the way the White House tried to exploit his response to his address.

Democrats faced criticism, including a part of their party, to deal with Trump's joint speech to Congress on Tuesday.

Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) was escorted from the room after repeatedly holding Trump down. Several Democrats quietly left during Trump's speech. At other times, many Democrats hugged the signs of black people that read “fake,” “musksteel,” “save Medicaid,” and “protect veterans.”
