Former President Donald Trump has said he does not support a federal abortion ban and believes each state should set its own abortion limits.

This statement contradicts what Democrats have been claiming about him for the past few months.

Despite this, many of the former president’s detractors still go so far as to say that Trump is “lying” and is only making this claim to “get more votes.” There is.

“At the end of the day, this all comes down to the will of the people,” Trump said in a video posted to Truth Social.

“My view is that now that we have the abortion that everyone wanted from a legal standpoint, each state will decide by vote or by law or both, and whatever they decide will become the law of the land. It has to be,” President Trump said.

In a video released Monday, President Trump also reaffirmed his full support for exceptions in rape and incest situations, and for protecting the life of the mother.

The former Republican president also said he believes every state should pass their own abortion laws, but did not name specific laws he supports. This goes against the views of some prominent Republican officials who are calling for federal legislation to restrict or outlaw reproductive rights across the country.

President Joe Biden and his allies say Trump’s “distinction between federal and state law” is “meaningless.” Biden has made abortion a key political issue in his presidential campaign, threatening Democratic voters with a “blue” vote or, in his own words, “the right to abortion” could be taken away indefinitely. Trying to instill fear.

Democrats also argued that President Trump has long been a threat to abortion rights because he “appointed Supreme Court justices who overturned the historic Roe v. Wade decision.”

“President Trump is pro-life, but he also supports states’ rights because he supports voters’ right to decide for themselves,” said Brian Hughes, senior adviser to President Trump. It has been made clear.” He added that he “believes that the voters should have the final say.”

Meanwhile, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, expressed “deep disappointment in President Trump’s position” on the issue. Dannenfelser urged Republicans to accept a nationwide ban lasting several weeks.

“By calling the issue ‘back to the states,’ we cede the national debate to Democrats, who are relentless in their efforts to pass legislation that would require abortion during the first nine months of pregnancy,” she said. “If successful, states’ rights will be wiped out.”
