Trump Says He Thinks More about God after 2nd Assassination Attempt

Former President Donald Trump said the two assassination attempts in the past two months have made him think more deeply about God. Trump appeared on Fox News' late-night show “Gutfeld,” marking his first late-night broadcast or cable appearance during an election cycle since 2016. Christian Posthe began by making a light comment about the recent assassination attempt that took place last weekend on a golf course in Palm Beach, Florida.

“So, Mr. P, how's your golf game going?” host Greg Gutfeld asked.

“Well, I haven't really thought about it much lately,” Trump said. “I've always said golf is a very dangerous sport.”

The discussion then took a more serious tone, with Trump reflecting on the dangers of being president, especially when the presidency is seen as “serious.”

“The only good thing is that any time a significant president gets attacked, and fortunately, I've been very fortunate so far,” Trump said, “or [there is] There is something greater than all of us.”

“There's something out there. Maybe someone out there watching over us,” Trump said.

Gutfeld then asked Trump whether his experience with close contact with death had caused him to think more deeply about God, the afterlife and what life is like after death.

“Talking about God has almost killed you twice,” Gutfeld said. “Have you started thinking more about your own mortality and what happens after you recover?”

Trump acknowledged that he has been thinking more deeply about God, especially after escaping an assassin's bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

“Think less about death and more about God. Butler was truly a man of miracles.”

He noted that if he had not turned his head slightly while talking about a large chart about illegal immigration that is often used at rallies, he could have been fatally shot in the head.

“I wouldn't be here right now and your ratings would probably be a little lower,” he joked to Gutfeld.
