Former President Donald Trump said early Wednesday that he had been briefed by intelligence officials about Iranian attempts to assassinate him and that he believes Iran will “try again.”

“Iran is threatening my life. The entire U.S. military is watching and waiting,” Trump, 78, wrote on Truth Social just hours after suspect Ryan Wesley Routh was indicted on charges of an assassination attempt on Trump's golf course earlier this month.
“Iran has already tried and it didn't work, but they will try again. It's not a good situation for anyone,” he continued.
“I am surrounded by more men, guns and weapons than I have ever seen in my life. I am grateful to Congress for unanimously approving significant funding for the Secret Service. There were zero votes against and it is completely bipartisan.”

Routh, who fled the scene, was arrested several hours later and could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Iran has so far denied allegations of US interference in its internal affairs.
