President Donald Trump has found Ukraine difficult to deal with and said that Ukraine “doesn't have the card” and may instead sue Russia to end the war.
Trump commented at an address from the oval office that promoted the latest employment report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. He worked on several topics, including his negotiations to end the Russian Ukrainian War.
“It may be easy to deal with Russia in terms of getting a final settlement, but that's surprising.”
The president was answering a question from a reporter asking if he believes Trump believes in President Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, when he says he wants peace despite increasing bombings in Ukraine.
“I believe in him. I believe in him,” Trump replied.
“I think we're doing very well with Russia. But now they're bombing Ukraine hell. Frankly, they find it more difficult to deal with Ukraine. They don't have cards. You know, we're meeting in Saudi Arabia early next week,” he added.
“It might be easy to deal with Russia in terms of getting a final settlement. They have all the cards and it's amazing because they're bombing hell from them now,” Trump said. “You can't do that. You can't do that. We're trying to help them.
The White House highlighted Trump's response Posting a video of his statement regarding his official social media accounts.
Trump used the same phrase about the card during his explosive conflict with Zelensky in the White House, which collapsed the mineral rights deal he was trying to sign with Ukraine.
“You don't have cards now. With us, you start holding cards,” the president said.
“I'm not a Trump,” replied Zelenskyy.
“Yeah, you're Trump,” replied. “You're living and gambling for millions of people. You're gambling with World War II. You're gambling with World War II. And what you're doing is very rude to this country, to this country.”
Zelenskyy then apologised and thanked the United States for military aid that contributed to Ukraine.
“None of us wants an endless war,” he said in a statement Tuesday. “Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiation table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. No one wants peace more than the Ukrainians. My team and I are ready to work under the strong leadership of President Trump.
