The parents of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the suspect who shot and killed former President Donald Trump, have reportedly hired a lawyer following an investigation into the assassination attempt.

The development comes after a family member told DailyMail.com that the FBI “still has a lot of questions” about how much the killer’s parents knew, and revealed that the father, Matthew Crooks, 53, was a gun enthusiast and had sold guns to relatives in the past.

The parents’ choice of law suggests they are preparing for possible civil lawsuits as well as criminal charges from the families of their son’s other victims.
Quinn Logue, the Pittsburgh-based law firm hired by Matthew Crooks and his wife, Mary, 53, describes itself as a litigation firm specializing in both criminal and civil cases, including wrongful death and personal injury cases.
The shooting left Trump’s face covered in blood and a bullet struck him in the ear as he addressed the crowd. A few days after the attack, a former sniper said he had “no doubt” the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, had the cooperation of “some agency, organization or government,” Breitbart News reported.
The media reported that the sniper was part of a team that previously held the confirmed world record for kill distance.
More recently, Rep. Clay Higgins (R-Louisiana) said in an investigative report that a Butler Special Forces SWAT officer shot Crooks’ gun “from the ground,” hitting him before a Secret Service sniper shot and killed him at the rally, Breitbart News reported.
After the shooting, Trump, speaking at a rally in Atlanta, Georgia, said he credited God with surviving, Breitbart News reported on August 3.
He said a bullet whizzed past the side of his head, adding: “The first one, it was never a good situation. It was just unbelievable. It was from God. It was from God. I had an opportunity… it was from God. For all you non-believers, it was from God, right?”
