President Donald Trump's impending attack on fire-ravaged Los Angeles on Friday will put him in direct contact and conflict with Gov. Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass, who have failed to protect the city.
Mr. Trump and Mr. Newsom have frequently clashed over the management, or mismanagement, of California's forests. President Trump has frequently criticized states for not allowing controlled brush cutting, logging and burning. Despite these differences, Trump consistently provided disaster aid to states during his first term, but the debate continued.
Last week, Newsom attacked President Trump for politicizing the fires, which are already a major political issue.
Nevertheless, Newsom invited Trump to California, and Breitbart News has also learned that Mayor Bass's office is involved in the president's itinerary. Mr Trump is accused The height of her “gross incompetence” in dealing with fires.
Mayor Bass was out of the country at the time of the fire, even though he was aware of the impending storm.
Trump has been upbeat about Los Angeles, mentioning the fires at his second inauguration and pledging to rebuild the city. But he may demand major changes in governance before federal taxpayers pour more money into fixing the failed state.
He plans to visit the Pacific Palisades and possibly Altadena, both of which were largely destroyed by fire.
