President Trump Comments on Arrests Related to Terrorism Plot

WASHINGTON — President Trump indicated that several individuals arrested by British police on terrorism charges had been monitored for a considerable period.

On Sunday, British officials detained five suspects who are believed to have been planning a van bombing at a military installation in the UK, previously utilized by the US.

Authorities have indicated that Iran is considered a possible origin of the terror scheme, following previous threats against the base, according to various sources.

“Working with Britain, it was an amazing job,” Trump told reporters on Sunday, praising the cooperation.

“We had them under investigation. They were looking to do big damage to our fort, and working with the British worked out great.”

“We had them under view for a long time and we got them,” he added.

Following the arrests, police discovered explosives and chemical materials in the van, which was located roughly two miles from Royal Air Force Fairford, as reported by Gloucestershire Police.

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has requested that the public refrain from speculating about the circumstances surrounding the arrests.

“The safety and security of the public is our first priority, and I want people to know that we will always take every step necessary to protect our communities and keep our country safe,” Burnham stated on X.

He also mentioned that the investigation is still ongoing and urged the public not to make assumptions as authorities work to uncover the complete details.
