Trump suggests investigation into funding for anti-police protests

Trump Comments on Minneapolis Incident Involving ICE Agents

President Donald Trump recently expressed his views regarding a woman shot and killed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis last week. He suggested that she might have been a professional agitator and indicated that the administration is looking into the financial backing of such anti-law enforcement activities.

During a conversation on Air Force One, Trump remarked, “The woman and her friend were extremely disrespectful to law enforcement. They were harassing people.” He went on to state, “Frankly, I think they are professional agitators.”

The president continued, saying, “I want to know who’s paying for the brand new signs and everything else, and I’m going to find out.” He emphasized that such behavior towards law enforcement is unacceptable, adding, “What that woman and her friend did to law enforcement—not just ICE—is outrageous.”

The Department of Homeland Security echoed Trump’s concerns by retweeting a message from Texas Republican Rep. Lance Gooden, who claimed that the anti-ICE protests were being financed by hidden sources. In his post, Gooden stated, “The anti-ICE mob is anything but organic. Dark money funds far-left groups like ICE Watch and lights the fuse. Americans have a right to know who is writing the checks!”

Earlier, DHS reported that a person in Minneapolis had allegedly used his vehicle as a weapon against law enforcement. DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, Tricia McLaughlin, stated that the officer involved acted in self-defense, emphasizing that the individual obstructed law enforcement.
