Former President Donald Trump suggested Thursday night that Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg should drop the business records case against him.
“People are trying to save a lot of money by saying that Alvin Bragg, whom Soros supported as attorney general, never wanted to launch a witch hunt against me in the first place, but to save a lot of money, this ridiculous and highly unpatriotic ‘case’ “The pride of a once-respected office,” he wrote on Truth Social. It will help me concentrate,” he added.
Trump’s proposal comes after a tough day in court for Bragg.
Trump’s defense team blasted the prosecution’s “star witness” Michael Cohen on the stand Thursday, poking holes in one of the prosecution’s key arguments.
They previously claimed that Mr. Cohen spoke on the phone with Mr. Trump on the night of October 26, 2016, and that Mr. Trump gave the go-ahead for a hush-money deal with Stormy Daniels.
Michael Cohen leaves his apartment on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in New York on his way to criminal court in Manhattan. The prosecution’s star witness is back on the stand in a business record against former President Donald Trump (Andrés Cudacki/Associated Press).
However, Trump’s defense attorney, Todd Blanche, said that in his 1 minute and 32 second phone call with Trump’s bodyguard Keith Schiller that night, Cohen actually wanted to talk to Schiller about the perpetrator of the prank call. I was able to prove that I never mentioned the hush money deal. Cohen claimed he had spoken to both Mr. Schiller and Mr. Trump and had enough time to discuss them both, but he could not say whether he had actually spoken to Mr. Trump.
On Thursday, President Trump also attacked Judge Juan Marchand, who is also allowed to comment under a gag order. President Trump has hinted about Judge Marchand’s daughter, but he is not allowed to comment on her. Judge Juan Marchan’s daughter runs a company that receives millions of dollars to run digital campaigns for Democratic candidates, including President Trump’s biggest political opponents.
President Trump posted:
The dilemma, as always, is Trump-hating judge Juan Machan (appointed in 2009 and still active!). He will face the problem of how to explain Trump’s defeat to radical left Democrats. Does he owe that much?
“Let’s restore ‘American justice.'” Election interference! ! ! ” Trump concluded.
