Trump Suggests MAGA Rally for 250th Anniversary
Over the weekend, President Trump hinted at organizing a major MAGA rally to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, especially after several artists backed out from performing at the Freedom 250 concert this summer.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social, he suggested canceling the concert originally set for the Great American State Fair.
Trump also took issue with a federal judge’s decision to remove his name from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which happened recently.
“Instead of hiring overpriced singers who no one wants to listen to and who complain all the time, we should have a huge 250-person MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY,” he stated.
He added, “Cancel it just like you dissociated me from being at the Kennedy Center, saying it’s a failure because a very contradictory and perverse federal judge told me I couldn’t make the Center great again—much more great than before!”
These remarks follow the news that multiple artists, including Martina McBride and Bret Michaels, have opted out of the concert planned for the National Mall in D.C.
The event is set to take place from June 25 to July 10, 2026, in celebration of the country’s 250th birthday.
Freedom 250 organizers had recently announced the lineup of performers, but the withdrawals were notable. Vanilla Ice, however, expressed his excitement about being part of the event.
In another post, Trump mentioned he might fill the concert’s spot with a major speech, likely in response to artists feeling anxious about the event.
“I understand that artists are dealing with the ‘yips’ related to Wednesday’s performance, so I’m considering replacing the high-paid, third-rate people with Donald J. Trump—number one attraction anywhere,” he wrote, claiming his ability to draw larger audiences than even Elvis did in his prime.
Trump later confirmed he would kick off the celebrations by speaking on June 24.
“I don’t want so-called ‘artists’ who are overpaid and not happy,” he remarked. “I only want to surround myself with happy, smart, and successful people who know how to win.”
Ultimately, Freedom 250 announced that Trump will deliver a speech before the Great American State Fair kicks off, marking an exciting moment in the anniversary celebrations.
