NEW YORK — A super PAC supporting former President Donald Trump launched a website hours before Tuesday's vice presidential debate criticizing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for his ties to China.
of “Tiananmen Tim” website — Created by Make America Great Again Inc. and shared exclusively with the Post — Accuses No. 2 Democrat of “putting China first” [and] Not only did he claim that “America is the last,” he lied that he was in Hong Kong in 1989 while the Chinese Communist Party brutally suppressed pro-democracy protests in Beijing's Tiananmen Square.
Walz claimed to have been in East Asia at least three times between 2009 and 2019 at the height of the turmoil, but two local newspaper reports in his home state of Nebraska claimed that the future governor was not present until August of that year. It is said to have been located in the Cornhusker State.
Walz is the subject of a congressional investigation over his ties to China and has been a vocal supporter of the communist country in the past.
The website said Walz has visited China more than 30 times and even went on a honeymoon around the fifth anniversary of the Tiananmen massacre.
As President Trump advisor Jason Miller posted on the It is possible that this issue will be taken up in the discussion group.
“Tiananmen Tim! Funny thing is, they’re changing this now – we were going to call him out on this in tomorrow night’s debate! Is there anything else you want to say, Tim? ?” Miller wrote.
The debate will be the first time Vance and Walz have sparred in person, and the last time the 2024 candidates will debate before the Nov. 5 election.
Trump and Harris have both vowed to get tough on China if they become president as the United States fights to maintain its trade dominance.
MAGA Inc.'s site also said that Walz does not necessarily support having a “hostile relationship” with China, but “recognizes that some in the Chinese government advocate strengthening the rule of law.” It also mentions that he is doing so.
The Minnesota governor taught English and worked in China as a young man, and later founded a travel company called Education Travel Adventures, which helped American students travel to China.
“It would be an outright illegal act if Tim Tiananmen’s record of ‘China first, America last’ was not brought up in tonight’s debate. The most radical presidential ticket in US history was bought by the Chinese Communist Party. , and those expenses have been paid,” MAGA Inc. spokesperson Kaylan Dole told the Post.
“The fact that Tim Walz's questionable ties to the Chinese Communist Party is not a disqualification in Kamala's eyes is the same as opening our borders, disrupting our economy, and causing chaos and destruction across our country. It shows poor judgment.”
