The White House shared an image depicting President Donald J. Trump as Superman on social media, highlighting a contrasting narrative compared to the recently released film.
The official account noted phrases such as “Symbol of Hope,” “Truth. Justice. American Path,” and “Superman Trump,” adding, “American Golden Age begins now.”
The phrase “American Way,” used in the post, stands in contrast to the new film’s marketing, which promotes “Truth, Justice, Human Ways.” Director James Gunn mentioned in an interview that Superman’s narrative is about “the story of immigrants.”
This image from the White House garnered over 14.6 million views and approximately 120,000 comments on X. Some responses on Instagram were critical of the content.
One comment suggested, “Superman will be considered an illegal alien and will be deported by this administration.”
Comments on X seemed to skew positively, with one user stating, “Trump is a real steel man.”
Dean Cain, the conservative actor who portrayed Superman in the 1990s, weighed in on the film’s political messages, questioning how Hollywood has evolved to reshape this character.
Clay Travis, founder of Outkick, mentioned that Gunn’s political stance could alienate parts of the audience.

One could argue that President Trump, known for his branding skills, might perceive himself as embodying the “steel man” image to align with his historical character.
The phrase “American Method” has not been a consistent part of the Superman narrative in recent history. Sometimes it has been replaced with alternatives like “better tomorrow” or “peace for all humanity.”
Originally, the motto emerged during World War II as a way to resonate with American values, with its use dating back to the show’s 1950s origins featuring George Reeves.
