Trump supporter joins the race to succeed Rep. Elise Stefanik, promises to finance campaign personally in GOP primary

Business Executive Announces Run for Congress in New York

ALBANY – Anthony Constantino, a business executive known for his strong support of Trump, is stepping into the political arena. He plans to run for the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, who is gearing up for a gubernatorial challenge against Gov. Kathy Hochul in 2026.

Constantino, who gained attention for putting up a large “Vote for Trump” sign on his business in Amsterdam and defending it in court, is preparing for a Republican primary. “I’ve had great success, and I believe getting involved in politics is a way to give back,” he mentioned during a nearly 30-minute announcement speech.

His speech was quite the sight; it took place in front of a wall of turkeys that he distributed to those in attendance. He expressed concern about the current political landscape, mentioning, “The world is changing, and we need leaders who grasp this. Instead, we’re stuck with politicians whose main worry seems to be the next donor-funded meal.”

As CEO of Sticker Mule, Constantino is not just a businessman but also someone known for a few unusual antics, including a public spat with state Conservative Party chair Jerry Kassar.

He plans to self-fund his campaign against state Rep. Robert Smull (R-Fulton), a retired Marine Corps colonel. Other candidates might also join the race, which adds an element of unpredictability.

In his announcement, Constantino asked for community support, saying, “I have officially decided to run for Congress, and I am here to ask for your support, your families, and everyone you know.”

Meanwhile, Stefanik has stated that she will not back a candidate to replace her at this stage. “I’m not at the stage to support him,” she told News 12.

Two Democrats, Blake Jendevian and Dylan Hewitt, are in the running as well. However, the Cook Political Report indicates that the district remains safely Republican even with Stefanik’s exit. She expressed confidence, stating, “I am sure the Republican Party will win the general election.”
