Trump Voices Support for Cuomo Amid Mayoral Race Threats

On Monday, Donald Trump expressed his backing for Andrew Cuomo while also hinting that he might cut federal funding for New York City if Zoran Mamdani, whom he described as a “communist,” wins the mayoral election.

In a detailed post on Truth Social, Trump cautioned that the city could face a significant “economic and social catastrophe” if Mamdani takes office. He emphasized, “If communist candidate Zoran Mamdani wins the New York City mayoral election, it is highly unlikely that I will donate the required minimum federal funds to my beloved first homeland, because as a communist, there is zero chance that this once-great city will succeed or even survive!”

He elaborated on his concerns, stating that under communist leadership, conditions would deteriorate. “As president, I don’t want to put good money after bad. If Mamdani wins, New York City will be a complete and utter economic and social disaster,” he underscored. He also claimed that a Mamdani victory would lead to total chaos in the city.

His statements represent another attempt to sway New York voters. Trump added, “A vote for Curtis Sliwa (who looks much better without a beret!) is a vote for Mamdani.”

In another twist, Trump indicated that regardless of personal opinions about Cuomo, voters might not have much of a choice. “Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really don’t have a choice. You have to vote for him and hope he does a great job. He can do that; Mamdani doesn’t!”
