Trump Critiques Virginia Senator Over Faith Remarks
President Donald Trump recently criticized Virginia Senator Tim Kaine for his comments that seemed to question the role of faith in America’s founding principles.
Kaine claimed that natural rights originate from the government rather than from God, which he argued contradicts the Declaration of Independence. He described the idea that inalienable rights come from God as “very troublesome,” even likening this foundational belief to the Iranian priesthood system.
“It’s the tyrants who are denying our rights,” he stated at a recent committee hearing. He noted that, according to the Iranian regime, rights are derived from what they perceive as their creators, which he found concerning.
His remarks sparked outrage among conservatives, with Trump labeling Kaine as “inefficient” and suggesting he “should be ashamed of himself.” During a speech at the Bible Museum in Washington, D.C., Trump reiterated, “It’s the tyrants who are denying our rights,” affirming that those rights come from God.
“Our Declaration of Independence asserts that we have been blessed by the Creator with the right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness,” Trump remarked, directing further criticism at Virginia’s senators.
Trump’s stance clearly emphasizes a commitment to defending what he calls God-given rights, insisting that despite Kaine’s position, they will “never apologize for our faith.” He concluded by affirming a dedication to freedom and values that he feels are under threat.
